The Holidays are here!

Quote: We have to learn to be our own best friend, because we fall too easily into the trap of being our own worst enemies.

Once again its time for us to have a little talk about the holidays.

This is not a time to deprive yourself, but with that said, use moderation is the key as your motto to get through all of the parties and indulgence.

You dont want to wake up January 1st with an extra 10lbs, (your unwanted holiday gift) that you will be working off for the next 3 months.

Dont make excuses about not working out, fit it in! The holidays are hectic but your health should be the priority and teaching your family is the best way to get everyone involved. If you are going to a party, prepare earlier that day by eating well and working out. This will allow you to enjoy the party without guilt. The following day get back on track!

Have fun and just remember dont go over board, Moderation is the key!

I love to eat!

I come from a big Italian family. We love to eat!!! Being a petite woman, I was always afraid that I would keep growing out. That is why I decided a long time ago that I had to

figure out a way to stay fit and healthy and still enjoy the foods that I grew up loving. Today there are so many options. You dont have to deprive yourself. When you realize what foods make you feel good, its quite easy to make those changes.

First rule: Dont buy things that you cant resist.

If you dont have it in the house, you wont eat it. When shopping, only buy healthy choices.

That is half the battle.

In Good Health!

Holiday Healthy Tips from Lisa Nunziella

1.Always have breakfast in the morning. If you start the day right chances are you will stay on track.

2-Ask friends and family not to give you sweet treats during the holiday.

Let them know that you are working hard to stay fit and healthy.

3-Always eat before going to parties so you will not be starving on arrival and make the wrong choices. Its easier to say no to something if your belly is full.

4. Make sure to workout and eat well all day before your holiday feast or party. So you wont feel guilty if you choose to indulge a little.

5. Make the right choices! If you know that you love dessert, then eat light during the dinner and enjoy your treat.

6.Moderation is the key. Dont overeat!! Portion control is crucial!

7.If you are working long hours during the holidays, bring healthy snacks with you to work so you do not get to the point of hunger. An apple or orange with a handful of almonds (10, no salt) or walnuts is a great choice. This will get you to your next meal comfortably.

8. Drink lots of water. Sometimes we think that we are hungry when what you really need is a big bottle of water! Stay hydrated. Drinking water will give you a lift.

9. Give the gift of health for the holidays for your family and friends. Give a month membership to a gym, workout DVDs, a workout outfit. You just might motivate someone to get started!!

10. Creating healthy habits and balance is the key! Enjoy!

Happy Holidays!
